The primary goal of the United Nations General Assembly First Committee, also known as the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), is to maintain peace and security on a national, regional, and global scale. In this committee, we will aim to address two pressing issues that currently threaten the international community at large: the proliferation and use of chemical weapons, and the ongoing civil war in Yemen.
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)

The primary goal of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women is to promote gender equality and empowerment of women. In this committee, we will be focusing on the general topic of equality and empowerment of women, ensuring that solutions will be multifaceted and addresses issues plaguing women all across the world. Additionally we will be addressing the specific topic of violence and human trafficking, one of the biggest issues that women face today.
Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) outlines its priorities around world without hunger, malnutrition and poverty and attain these in a sustainable manner. Today, countries face an increasing myriad of demands and challenges in agricultural development. In this committee, we will be addressing this directly in a discussion regarding sustainable food production worldwide. Additionally, we will focus on animal poaching and the illegal wildlife trade, and find connections between these issues and our global biodiversity and wellbeing.
CollegeBoard 2019: Post-Admissions Scandals

The specialized committee, CollegeBoard 2019: Post-Admissions Scandals, will focus on the governmental body of the CollegeBoard nine months after one of the largest and most shocking lawsuits of the century. As an organization with heavy influence on the actions and acceptances of colleges worldwide, the committee and its special members must assess the issue’s status since the fraud was first revealed and the implication of those that were charged. It will then discuss the effectivity of actions taken, and what can be done to prevent this kind of dishonesty in the future.
The Great Emu War

The year is 1932 in this crisis committee, and the wheat farmers of Australia are currently facing their most formidable foes to date -- the indigenous emu population. The birds are a nuisance to the cultivation of wheat crops and agribusiness, and if left unchecked, can potentially cause the downfall of the Australian economy as a whole. The members of this committee will assess their perilous situation and will discuss how to handle the emu invasion, how to protect their crops, and how to expand their arsenal and gain support from outside forces as well as the Australian people.
