Letter from the Secretary-General
Welcome to PythonMUN III.
Pine View School’s Model United Nations (MUN) team has been around for over two decades, and winning awards for just as long. We are considered a South Florida MUN powerhouse, and currently rank within the top 50 high school MUN programs nationwide. We have competed at NAIMUN, at NHSMUN, and BosMUN. In training our delegates, we noted a monumental gap in skill improvement—one driven by the lack of training conferences that suit our vision for the future of MUN.
In the previous United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley’s first public speech of her term, she noted: “This is a time of fresh eyes, new strength, [and] new vision.” We like to think the same way at Florida’s newest training conference.
We adhere to a MUN philosophy of diplomatic cooperation and partnership to achieve our goals of creating a better society. If we were a Sustainable Development Goal, we would be SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. As much as MUN is about winning, it is also about working together. We aim to foster that same attitude. By offering a training conference focused on learning real parliamentary procedure in an environment that is welcome to questions, concerns and the occasional mistake, we believe we will be able to train the next generation of great delegates.
We are thrilled to offer three assembly committees, one specialized committee, and one crisis committee at PythonMUN III. Our assembly committees are the United Nations General Assembly First Committee (DISEC), the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Our specialized committee is the College Board 2019: Post-Admissions Scandals. Our crisis committee is called The Great Emu War.
Registration for PythonMUN opens on September 10th, and is open to delegates of all experience levels. If your school is searching for a new conference to add to your schedule that makes your delegates better and more engaged, look no further.
